Re: ActiveSync 4.2 disables Wireless networking when not connected

IE7 has nothing to do with this and XPSP2 works very well with AS and
Windows Mobile 5.

If both of your target PCs are running Intel wireless networking adapters,
you might want to read the old thread in this group titled "ActiveSync Kills
Wireless". The wireless problem in that case occurred when attaching the
mobile device and could only be repaired by rebooting the PC after
disconnecting the device. It seems to me that your problem is a bit
different, but if this does describe what you see, the solutions that some
in that thread found might help. groups.google.com

You should make sure that you are not running a virtual private network or
other network management software. If you are, it's probably disconnecting
itself when you connect a new network device, the mobile device which looks
like a USB network adapter.

Installed AS 4.2 on two Windows XP SP2 machines (Toshiba and IBM Thinpad
tablet) and unfortunately lost wireless connectivity on both (ipconfig
/all returns no output at all ;( ) Note - even when Mobile device is not
cradled, no AS running.

Uninstalling AS 4.2 did not rectify. Nor did using AS 4.5 Beta 2.

Only connetivity via Internet Sharing on Windows Mobile 5 device.

Running IE7, Office 2007 on both machines.

Any advice short or reimaging?
