Activesync Windows disappears and won't 'Restore'

Is anyone having problems with the Activesync (4.1 or 4.2) application
window minimising and then failing to restore?
I can sync via AS without any problem at all whatsoever but if I
double-click the Microsoft Activesync button in the taskbar it fails to
maximise. I have no problem connecting via USB and I can access
'Connection Settings' and the like. I just cannot restore the window
which is quite frustrating when I do have conflicts and want to try to
resolve them because the user interface is invisible, so I can't really
see what's going on.
I saw a previous post whilst running AS 4.1 whereby it suggested
uninstalling 4.1 (and removing all instances of AS in the regsitry)
then installing 4.2. I did this and it ran ok for about 3 days but then
low and behold the window vanished again and I cannot restore it.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
