Re: Cannot conntect to ActiveSync 4.1 / WM 5

The big three are: 1) firewall, 2) anti-virus, 3) VPN. If you have neither
2 or 3, then I'd try the AS4.2 beta, which you can download from
www.microsoft.com/mobile. If you have 2, then *uninstall* it, temporarily.
Shutting it down, often enough, doesn't fix things. If you have 3, you'll
have to consult with your network administrator for setting changes that
might be necessary.

Paul,

Let me throw my issue your way.

I have a Samsung i730, which was just upgraded ( thats my fault) to WM 5.
I
have AS 4.1 intalled on my PC running Windows XP. When I go to sync it
recognizes the device but just sits there and waits for a connection
(spinning wheel). Running XP Firewall with all AS exceptions. Connecting
throught USB. Any thoughts?

Yes, probably. However, so far, you haven't told us anything much that
would help us help you. What PC are we talking about? It's running what
OS? What Pocket PC or SmartPhone device are you using? What version of
the
OS is running on that device? How far into the sync process do you make
it
with 4.2 beta, if your device is running Windows Mobile 5? If it's *not*
WM5, carefully remove whatever version of AS you presently have installed
and install 3.8. How far does it go?

You walked through the Troubleshooting ActiveSync 4.1 page from
www.microsoft.com/mobile?

I've read the groups, and i've tried the MS tech info but still cannot
connect to AS4.1.
I've tried installing the 4.2 beta, tried, downgrading to 3.7 & 3.8,
but still no joy.
I've tried changing Windows firewall settings, disabling the firewall,
but still nothing.

Can someone please HELP me.......
