Re: Active Sync 4.1 / WLAN trouble

It causes *all* devices on the network to lose connection in all cases?
I've been in communication with Harish and some of the other guys on the
team about the loss of AS computer connection (the "Activesync Kills
Wireless" thread, here), with WPA/Intel/version 10 drivers, but that doesn't
sound like the same problem as described here, where the entire wireless
network is destroyed when the WM device is connected.

Hi Paul,
The issue is with the Intel drivers for the 2200 chipset and using WPA
security with 802.11g and the version 10 drivers.

The combination of all of these features with ActiveSync causes the issue.

I've dropped a note to the AS team about this. Can you describe any
known differences between the situation where everything works and where
it fails? It wasn't clear to me from your postings whether PPoE was on
with the working system or not, for example.

PS: Just checked at work, connecting to a 811.2b, here everything runs
fine
with the very same configuration. So my guess would be that the router
is
somehow misconfigured. But I don't know where to start here...

Hi,
Do you have any special networking software installed such as a VPN,
PPPoE
Client, or Firewall on the PCs? What IP address are the PCs using?
If
they use the 169.254 address then it could be a conflict.

Further since you are using an Intel 802.11g (probably the Intel
2200BG) you
need to check the version of software you are using. There are known
incompatibilities with version 8 and 10 of the Intel software.

Hi, since I can't locate any bug report form...

Here's my problem. I have a running DSL internet connection with WLAN
Router
(Zyxel P-660HW-T7C) provided by Arcor. Usually two Computers are
connected
to
the Router, plus a PPC (O2 neo, running Win Mobile / CE 5.0). Now,
when I
plug in the phone via USB, Active Sync 4.1 starts - and all (!)
computers
connected to the WLAN Router immediately loose their connections.
None of
the
computers can re-connect while the PPC is connected via USB. Only
afterwards
reconnection is possible, sometimes requiring resetting the
computers. IPs
for WLAN connections are obtained via a static DHCP which is
configured in
the Router and which assigns one IP to each of the computers, and -
if
connected via WLAN - to the phone. Active Sync assigns an IP of its
own to
the phone, which is different from each of the WLAN IPs.

My Operating System is Win XP Pro on each Computer, one has a Network
811.2bg via USB installed, the other one is a Centrino Notebook and
has a
built-in intel chip.

Any ideas are highly appreciated, best regards
