Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Interesting......changing the environmental variables fixed the install

Hi,

Try the following:

First clear the %temp% folder contents and then try to install ActiveSync.
To do so,

- Click Start, then click Run. Type the following:

%temp%

- Click Ok and clear the folder contents.

If that doesn't work, try this:

Go to Control Panel - System - Advanced, click Environmental Variables and
you can edit the entry for "TEMP=" directory. Change it to Such as C:\Temp
and then give it a shot. If successful, set it back to its original
location.

If you have the entire screen shot, would appreciate if you could mail it
to
me.

my OS is Win XP sp2 in and SBS 2003 environment. I used the SBS server to
install AS 3.7 but the setup.exe file for 4.x from the MS site fails
almost
immediately after starting with the attached pop up. There are no logs
that
I can find and no entry in eventviewer.
it is as if InstallShield hangs decompressing the files

any suggestions?
