You need to start by observing what's actually going on. What doesn't work
is only part of the information necessary to debug a problem. What happens
when you connect the device to the USB port on the computer? If you're
plugging into a USB hub, rather than directly to the PC, does an indicator
light on the hub illuminate? What if you plug the device into a different
USB port or using a different cable? If the USB hardware seems to be
working, is there an entry in the Network Connections (on the Start |
Settings menu), for the Windows Mobile device when you have it plugged in?
If there is, open its properties and verify that Internet Protocol (TCP/IP),
has a check mark beside it. If no network connection appears, let us know
about that.

Like many here, I am experiencing a problem syncing my WM5 device. I have
a
ppc-6700 running wm5. I was able to sync with my office computer until a
few
days ago (last friday 6/2/06) and have since been unable to sync. I was
running AS 4.1 and have since upgraded to 4.2b, thinking that it may
resolve
the issue. Now, neither installation would allow me to sync via USB,
whereas
the sync process worked flawlessly before. I have McAfee personal
firewall
and antivirus which I have disabled temporarly - that doesn't help. I
installed and reinstalled AS 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2b ad nauseum. I also tried
restoring windows XP to last month when I know I was able to sync - no
help
there either. I'm at my wits end.
