Re: Unstable IP address

Report this to the bug report alias for the beta ASAP! astell @
microsoft.com. Please give detailed information on the PC OS, PC hardware,
especially the network adapter, the access point, and any wireless software
that you are running, typically from the wireless network adapter vendor, to
set up things like WEP, WPA, etc. If you are running a virtual private
network so that you can connect to, maybe, your work network from home, send
that information, too.

I use XP firewall protection. Same happens when I disable it. When I
removed AS4.2, the problem was gone....
Anyway just to give you the full picture, my home networked is a wireless
based one where my access point plays as DHCP server. The home generic IP
address is 192.168.0.10x .
BTW, after reinstalling AS4.2, the problem returns.

Hi,
Do you have a software firewall or VPN Client installed on the PC? The
scenario you described sounds like some program is resetting the network
connection.

Since I installed AS version 4.2.0 (Build 4855) Beta on my XP-SP2 home
PC, I have encountered a new problem. My home PC toggles between my home
network IP address and 169.254.109.195 every few minutes. The problem
occurs after removing my WM5 based device (X51V) from its sync cradle.
When I'm placing PDA back into the cradle, problem is gone. When I
release and renew my home
PC IP address to set the home network IP address (thru DHCP) it goes
back to 169.254.109.195, 4-5 minutes after the IP renewal .
This problem has never been observed with the previous AS4.1.

Any ideas ?

Dudi
