4.1 kills VPN and / or 802 G connections? What!??

Hi -
I bought a Cingular 2125 on Friday because I wanted a phone that does the
PDA thing. Since Friday I've spent an unbelievable amount of time just
trying to get my phone to sync with Outlook. I've had an iPaq for a couple
of years with no problems, so I'm perplexed by this new "experience".
Based on all of the sites I've read on this subject, I'm inclined to believe
that the new TCP/IP architecture for ActiveSync for WM5 was WAYYYY not ready
for prime time. Maybe I'm off base, but WOW have I wasted a LOT of time -
for a "productivity device".
So anyway, I'm posting this on the off chance there actually is a
workaround. I have the following success-limiting factors (SLF's) on my PC:
1.) I work for a very large enterprise, and thus have an enterprise version
of Sygate Agent firewall - it doesn't appear to allow rules
2.) I work for a very large enterprise, and thus want to connect via VPN to
Outlook/Exchange
3.) I depend a lot on 802.11G and because I work for a very large
enterprise, I have to use WPA as well as LEAP protocol
4.) Of course I have Symantec AV (enterprise) - how silly of you to ask!
Did I mention I work for a very large enterprise, and I'm trying to be a
productive information worker?
For the MS contributors:
- When would a working version of AS be available for someone working in
the above mentioned environment? If there is NO SOLUTION IN SIGHT, could you
please be honest so I can stop wasting time and simply return this product?
- If there is a workaround expected, can you give me a rough timeline? Is
it better to try and tinker or just wait until a real update is available?
