Re: ActiveSync 4.1 Kills Wireless

Am using XP Wireless zero config and the only service I can see running of
those you list is IPSEC. Will try disabling it when I get a moment.

Am also using WPA-PSK, but don't have time / knowledge to test WEP

Also AS4.2 makes no difference

I've forwarded the versions of everything to the MS guys. You saw the
previous post discussing some other things to try? This one, specifically
(sounds like you are trying to use Windows Zero Config and not some other
manager, but it wouldn't hurt to check):

They've looked over the list and ask a couple of new questions about this
specific configuration:

1. Is there some sort of wireless 'manager' application from the computer
vendor that you use to configure wireless settings or is it just using the
basic Microsoft one? On the IBM T43, for example, there's an IBM-specific
application to manage things.

2. What happens if you modify the services which are running to disable the
following (temporarily)?

Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Event Log
Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Registry Service
Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Service
IPSEC Services

They didn't specify, but I'd try stopping each of the services and then see
what happens. If it won't let you stop them, you may have to set them to
Disabled and reboot.

They appreciate the continued help!
Thanks,

Please verify that you are using WPA/PSK, also and that switching to WEP
works.

Hi there I'm new to this group which I found because I was looking for a
solutiopn to this problem.

I'm using a Sony Vaio VGN-A197XP and an O2 XDA Exec running XP Pro and WM5
respectively. The Wireless modem is Intel 2200BG and I've just updated
the
driver to 9.0.4.13 but since I use XP to control the modem I haven't
installed the Intel Pro software.

Anyway, the problem is still there with A4.1 and I'm about to see what
happens when I upgrade to AS4.2beta.

Understood. I'd like to have as many people who are suffering with this
(although I know you have another way to sync that works for you), try
these
things.

Thanks,

Hi Paul,
My apologies. Did not have time yet to test it.
I hope I will sooner than later....
It's just that I am not that familiar with processes and kiling them so
I
am
a little bit hesitant and I need some
free time to get to it

the

Thanks for the help!
