Re: Microsoft has just released a public beta of Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2

That would make sense except what probably was not taken into consideration
is a corporate PC with policies in place to lockdown disabling of firewall
settings or disabling the firewall.

Unless you are connected directly to the Internet, disable Windows
Firewall entirely. If AS still doesn't work, that's puts us on a much
narrower path to the right answer.

That's great... After my install I still have the same problem; no
ability to sync via USB. Bluetooth works better though.

A quick review of all settings in Windows Firewall show they're correct,
but still no joy. 8'-{

I installed it ... no problems, although the status bar remains blank for
what seems like several minutes.

Although it didn't prompt to reboot, I could not sync successfully until
after I rebooted.

After rebooting it ran fine and seems to sync much, much faster than
4.1.

What is new/different/fixed in ActiveSync 4.2 beta vs. 4.1?

Microsoft has just released a public beta of Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2.
The beta is available for download from

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync42.mspx

We encourage everyone to download, install and use this newer version
and provide feedback on your experience.

We have created two ways for you to provide feedback. We have created
an email alias and a newsgroup. The email alias is ASTell, and the
newsgroup will be microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync.beta. The
newsgroup will go live on Monday 5/1. Based on the anticipated volume
we will not be able to respond directly to every email or post, we
will be reviewing all incoming messages to insure that the feedback is
addresses as we continue to improve the Microsoft ActiveSync product.

Thanks,

Ken Lavering
