Re: ActiveSync 4.1 Kills Wireless

That's definitely a problem with the Intel driver, it seems. I'll forward
the information to the team and see what they say about it, whether 4.2 was
supposed to fix it, etc. I didn't learn about the beta much before the
general public, so I haven't asked them about it, thus far.

Didn't solve it for me. Installed per instructions, and it still kills my
wireless when I connect via USB (no problem when I use IR, just when
connecting via USB)

Please try the public beta of AS 4.2 just announced yesterday:

Microsoft has just released a public beta of Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2.
The
beta is available for download from

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync42.mspx

We encourage everyone to download, install and use this newer version and
provide feedback on your experience.

We have created two ways for you to provide feedback. We have created an
email alias and a newsgroup. The email alias is ASTell, and the
newsgroup
will be microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync.beta. The newsgroup will go
live on Monday 5/1. Based on the anticipated volume we will not be able
to
respond directly to every email or post, we will be reviewing all
incoming
messages to insure that the feedback is addresses as we continue to
improve
the Microsoft ActiveSync product.

Thanks,

Ken Lavering

Another one here

Thinkpad t43, Windows XP Professional SP2
Intel Pro 2915ABG
Driver Version 9.0.4.8

Wireless Access Point: Dlink DI-624, Firmware Version 2.70

Any word on a resolution for this? (I updated my intel driver per notes
in
here and elsewhere, but it did not solve the problem)

Well, I have 3 computers that can duplicate the problem :(

Dell Inspiron 6000
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (mini PCI adapter)
Driver version: 9.0.3.9
Wireless Client/stack: PROSet/Wireless version 10.1.0.1

Dell Dimension XPS T500 (desktop)
Linksys WMP54G 1.0 (PCI adapter)
Driver version: 3.30.15
Client/stack: Windows XP SP2 WZC

Dell Dimension 9100 (desktop)
Buffalo WLI-U2-KG54 (USB adapter)
Driver version: 1.1.2.2
Client/stack: Windows XP SP2 WZC

AP: Linksys WRT54G 1.0
802.11G-only mode
WPA-PSK security using a 28 character AES encryption key

PPC: Dopod 818 Pro Pocket PC phone (2 days old)
It's a HTC based device - not sure which one though
http://www.dopodasia.com/Dopod/Singapore/En/Products/PDAPhone/818_Pro

ActiveSync 4.1 (Build 4841)

When the PPC is connected by cable, the wireless connection drops,
reconnects and attempts to acquire an address (but failed). Not only
does the wireless connection is disrupted on the machine to which the
PPC is attached, the connection on the other two computers are also
disrupted - same behavior. I need to reboot each one to regain
network
connection after disconnecting AS; one time I even need to reset
router!
