Hi there,
I've been having the same issue except the only difference is i'm dealing
with Exchange Server 2000. Do you know whether this server certificate can
be exported(like you describe) when dealing w/ exch2k?
Can you provide more detail regarding step 3?
Thanks for your help, my productivity literally depends on it....seeing
that IT and verizon support of nonexistant.

Hi in hope this will help someone else. After after much trial and error,.
searching on the web, asking questions here and everywhere... we've gotten a
Verizon 6700 to sync with USB AND wirelessly.
1. Unit would not show up in USB connection for ActiveSync. Tried 3.8, 4.0,
and finally 4.1 AS - no joy. Device was never seen. Unistalled, and tried the
correct installation/connection sequence many, many, many times. Tried
remote/wireless sync too - no joy. Could not connect to server.
2). Finally decided to try and connect/sync via IR. After a bit of fumbling
around to enable this. We connected to computer, but still no sync.
3). Decided to try and install server certificate on VZW 6700... this
install is a Windows SBS2003 Prem SP1, Exchange SP2, ISA 2004. Copied cert
from server... brough over via IR connection, doubling-clicking would NOT
install it. So back on local computer, opened IE, installed certificate in
IE... exported certificate from IE, again - copied over to VZW 6700 via IR...
NOW double-clicking did install it.
So at this point, decided to try remote/wireless synching.... after playing
with the server "name" some... i.e. www.server.com/exchange -- it
connected!!!!! There is some rush when you first see the connection and the
synching being done and then like magic - your emails, calendar, tasks and
contacts are in the handheld device.
4. Once the remote/wireless sync'ed once, all of a sudden without any
changes the USB/Cradle synced too. Remaining issue - is that the use of the
USB/cradle sets a "use proxy server" that MUST be turned off in connection
settings, or the remote/wireless connection will NOT work, nor will VZW 6700
surf internet until that setting is toggled.
Way, way too much undocumented work to get this to work, tech support was
nonexistant at carrier, I think the issues are related to the ISA firewall,
and one must use the cert in the proper load manner. As the network will not
run without the ISA Firewall Client - we needed to get this to work with it.
It feels like we tried everything... and then some more everything to get
this working. I hope there are some steps in here that may help someone else
figure out what can be a maddening effort to get AS syncing to work in some
cases. - Dodge
