I don't need to connect to the work network for AS. i.e. I don't connect to
any exhange server via mobile. This basically means my laptop is always
configured for stand-alone mode, as I'm an independent consultant.
Anyhow, I've just resorted to sync via Bluetooth (which is another
headache). I've spent too many days and hours on this problem. Personally, I
think MS should upgrade the AS on the WM5 device.
Thanks for your help, Paul.

So, you are or are not always connected to the work network? Do you see
what I'm asking about? I'm wondering if, while at home, you can access
the work network from your PC and, if so, how? That might indicate that
the PC is configured with VPN software or hardware. Is there another PC
at work that you can try? Preferably a desktop system, rather than a
laptop type that might also be configured for remote operation with the
work network?

The issue appears to be identical. I don't need to connect via any VPN or
special software.

And does the same issue appear identically with AS in both situations?
Are you set up to access your work network via some sort of software or
hardware VPN from either spot?

Hi Paul,
I have both (wired at the office) and (wireless at home) via the same
laptop.

You have no virus scanner on the PC? What sort of network is the PC
connected to? DSL via wired Ethernet cable? DSL via wireless? This
is your network at the office or home?

Hi Paul,
I have been through the troubleshooting guide (very long, but I
followed all advice) and still nothing.
Eventually I'm asked to upgrade to AS4.1, which I have.
Regards,
Phathizwe

If it's sitting there with the green icon spinning, it *has* been
recognized on the USB connection and 98% of the time, the problem is
one of those covered in the AS troubleshooting document referenced
earlier in the thread (firewall, antivirus, VPN).

what doesn't work is
1. The ActiveSync (green icon keeps turning)
2. The PC doesn't see the device (in Explorer),
I thought it was the apps too, so I have minimal 3rd party
essential apps running. (less than 5, all stored on SD card).
Is there anything else that has caused such a problem with other
users? I even religously delete all my text messages

You'll, obviously, have to be *much* more specific about what is
happening than "it doesn't work". If hard resetting it fixes it,
then something you are doing on the device is breaking it over
time. Third-party applications installed? Running out of memory
(storage, program)?

Is there any kind of help for this problem?
I am having the same problem, and please please be aware that
1. I do not have any firewall software (disabled)
2. Nothing on the PC changed
3. 1 minute, it was working, the next it is not.
4. 4.1 doesnt make the problem go away
5. A hard-reset seems to be a temporary measure (2 weeks, max)
Can anybody help?

Well, think about *any* software changes that you may have made
to the PC: anti-virus, firewall, virtual private networking,
connected to or disconnected from a company network, etc. One
of those is the most-likely explanation. If you can tell us
what you think you might have changed, we can guide you to
fixing the problem. If you go to www.microsoft.com/mobile and
look for the Active Sync connection troubleshooter, that may
help you, also.

Hello!
Since yesterday that I can't synchronize my computer with thw
WM5 I-mate
Jamin. Until this date I never had a problem and I didn't
modified anything
that could justify this problem. I already made a hard reset in
the PDA, also
tried to install the last version of the ActiveSync, but
continues without
functioning. When I connect the PDA to the computer the
ActiveSync it opens
and it appears the message "Connecting", for about 5-10 minutes
and later
appears "Disconnected". The PDA doesn't show any king of
indication to
attempt the synchronization With the computer.
What can I do more?
