Re: AS4.1 and XV6700

I had the exact same problem with AS4.1 and WM5 on my O2 Atom. I have
spent the last week installing, reinstalling, rebooting, editing the
registry, opening and closing ports, following one troubleshooter after
another, and various other things.

I had noticed that I could connect and browse device content but not
sync with windows in safe mode, and I could synch using Bluetooth.

It is only when reading that you had problems with your Cisco VPN
client that the ball dropped. I had made sure to not run it when trying
to connect, but I had forgotten about one thing:

When you open the Cisco VPN client and click the Options tap, there was
a "Stateful Firewall (Always On)" option that was checked. When I
unchecked it, my device immediately started to sync. Maybe this will
work for you too.

An update:

I have the Cisco PAL VPN client for connecting to our corporate network when
needed. In addition to this app, the BlackIce firewall is also installed. I
had been disabling these apps (I thought) but no luck. The minute I
uninstalled the Cisco Client, the phone was detected, and the synch went as
planned.

Great! Except that now I have to figure out a way to have both the XV6700
AND the Cisco client playing nicely together!

Greets,
Just received my Verizon XV6700 and cannot seem to get the AS4.1 working
on my XP Pro SP2 system. It just sits there at "Connecting".

I have reinstalled AS4.1, hardbooted the XV6700, no luck. The only thing
that partially worked was when I booted the PC into safe mode with network
support. It then stated that it was connected, started the wizard, and
started the synch, but no activity seemed to take place. I watched the
network activity on the new network connection that was created, and there
was virtually none.

I have disabled my AV software, and turned off the Windows firewall, even
though the proper exceptions seemed to have been created. I also disabled
the black Ice firewall that is a prerequisite if I VPN into the coprporate
network, just in case.

I went through Verizon's support, and was routed to the phone mfg's tech
support, who immediately stated that there was an issue with AS4.1 and
WM5, and to check back regularly, as MS was going to be issuing a patch.
HUH?

Anyone have any ideas?

Regards,

Gary
