Re: WM5->Exchange sync through https proxy?

Are you using SSL certificate obtained from a public vendor or SSL
certificate from your own internal CA?
If you are using one from an internal CA you will have to get the root
certificates for you CA Servers and install them on your mobile device.

I have a qtek 9100 pocket pc (windows mobile 5) mobile phone which I would
like to synchronize to an exchange server. With (desktop) outlook, I
connect to the exchange server through a https proxy using basic
authentication. There are no errors nor warnings when connecting in this
way.

However, when trying to set up the exchange connection for my windows
mobile 5 device using active sync 4.1 problems occur. Firstly, I'm not
sure how to specify that a proxy is being used but as far as I can gather,
I'm simply supposed to enter the name of the proxy as the server name and
check "use ssl" (as it is a https proxy). So far so good?

Next, I get to choose what I want to synchronize. Once this is done,
active sync starts "looking for changes" and then "synchronizing". It is
in the synchronization step things normally fail. I get an "invalid
certificate error" which makes no sense since the certificate is perfectly
valid. Furthermore, I have downloaded the certificate to my mobile device
and installed it in the root certificate store.

Could this error be related to something else than the actual certificate
(the use of a proxy for example)? I would be very grateful for any help!

Best regards
David Olsson
