I actually did a hard reset on the Treo and opened no other programs just to
make sure that no programs were running in the background.

I know that the first sync is slow but 31 hours is rediculous. One thing
I can think of is that other programs may be running in the background so
ActiveSync did not have a full CPU and ram for the Treo 700w.

I have an IPAQ 2410 and a IPAQ 1910. I did configure Internet Security to
allow ActiveSync 4.1 port's . The good news is that it finally finished
synching after 31 hours. I don't know why it was so slow but it does sync
in less than 3 minutes now that it has completed the 1st sync. Is this
normal behavior?

What iPAQs do you have? If they are older that can explain the
difference. ActiveSync 4.1 contains the code that existed previously for
ActiveSync 3.8 for older devices. This code is different than the code
that 4.1 uses with Windows Mobile 5.0 devices like the Treo.
Have you configured Interet Security to allow ActiveSync 4.1's ports for
Windows Mobile 5.0 devices? There are additional ports and different IP
addresses with Windows Mobile 5.0.

I have a problem with synching my new Treo 700 to my desktop running Win
XP MCE sp2. I can synch it fine to my laptop running XP Pro sp2 but can
not get it to finish a sync on my desktop. What makes this very strange
is that I can sync with my desktop using Activesync 4.1 with 2 different
IPAQs but not finish the Treo sync. ( I have let the Treo continue to
sync for the last 28 hours and it is only about 50 % done. ( the same
info on the IPAQs takes less than 2 minutes)
The IPAQs will sync fine without any of the web site suggested fixes
(open ports in Trend Micro PC cillin Internet security 2006, connect
direct to motherboard USB etc) but with or without the suggested web
site fixes I can't get this to sync with my desktop, again it has no
problem syncing with my laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
