Re: ActiveSync downloads proxy server settings to device?

When the Desktop ActiveSync applications "This computer is connected to:" is
in the "Automatic" profile, will try to auto-discover the network's proxy.
If you change it to the "Work" profile and manually enter the proxy
information on the device, the device information will not be overwritten.

I was troubleshooting an issue where a handful of mobile device users
(WM2003/ActiveSync 3.8 over serial cable) were unable to access
intranet/internet sites from PIE. I discovered that the devices that
were having problems had a proxy server defined on the following
screen:
http://snice.net/mobile_proxy.gif
This is a problem for me because my users move between networks and a
given proxy server is almost never valid. My questions are:
How did this happen? Does ActiveSync automatically download proxy
server information to the mobile device? Is there any way that I
prevent this from happening?
Thanks for any insight.
