Re: ActiveSync with Exchange over SSL

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Getting that error in the browser _is_ a problem. That means the SSL connection isn't quite working.
The error you describe probably means the root cert or intermediate certs are not installed. Does the root cert for your server show up in the certificates control panel?

Like many others, I am unable to sync with Exchange server over SSL due to what appears to be certificate issues. Have done our research on the board and other sources and are still coming up short. Below are the specs, errors and various attempts:

Dell Axim X51v running WM5 & AS 4.1
Exchange 2003 SP2

(1) I am able to connect to both OWA and OMA (both require SSL) through IE on the Axim - no problems. What what I have read, this means I should be able to run ActiveSync over SSL - but no go! By the way the ActiveSync settings are the same as OMA & OWA (I dont know if this is an issue). We are using the out-of-the-box setup with a QuickSSL certificate from GeoTrust (Equifax). This is not a wildcard domain certificate.

(2) If our admin temporarily disables SSL requirement, ActiveSync works just fine.

(3) When SSL requirement is enabled, I get the following error: "The security certificate on the server is invalid. Contact your Exchange Server administrator or ISP to install a valid certificate on the server. Support code: 0x80072F0D"

(4) Even though we are using a public Certificate Authority, I still imported the cert (DER export) into the Axim and was still unable to sync.

(5) I did notice one error when running OWA (but I was still let in and able to run OWA) as follows: "The certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust (yellow hazard sign). The certificate date is valid (green check). The certificate has a valid name matching the name of the page you are trying to view (green check)."

Again, I am at a total loss since ActiveSync works without SSL enabled, and the Axim can access OWA and OMA with SSL enabled. Seems like I have tried everything that anyone has suggested.

Please help! Thanks in advance.
