Re: Self Certs with PPC-6700

Hi,
Until the host name is the same as the cert this will be a valid issue. The
reason is that the cert looks up the host as part of the verification
process.

ActiveSync 4.x Troubleshooting Guide -

I am trying (as all others have in the past!) to setup the ActiveSync on a
Sprint PPC-6700 WM5 device to connect ota to our xng2k3 sp2 server using
ssl.
We are running the Cert Servs in 2k3. And accessing the xng server via ip
address.
This works dandy when I do not enable ssl for ActiveSync, but as soon as I
do it errors.
I exported the .cer file from another pc, copied it to the pocketpc,
opened
it and it does show up under the Root Certificates on the device.
But now when I try and sycn I get that error...
You have an incorrect SSL certificate common name in the Host Name field.
For example, you may have entered www.tailspintoys.com when the common
name
on the certificate is actually www.wingtiptoys.com. Make sure the server
name is entered correctly.

Support Code: 0x80072F06

This xng server does not have a fqdn (ie. mail.domain.com) because it is
in
testing right now. It does have a valid outside ip address. The nt domain
that it is a dc for is xngdc.local. The server name is xng03test. This is
the
same cert name that appears in the Root Certificates window on the
pocketpc..but no dice
