Re: Activesync Kills Wireless

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Yep, the Intel drivers don't solve the problem. I've contacted Intel (they
won't take responsibility). I've contacted Sony (Intel told me to contact my
notebook manufacturer) and they won't help. So, Microsoft, let's get this
fixed. I really don't think many home users like myself want to run an
Exchange server or switch to WEP. The easy answer would be to allow AS to
sync wirelessly using my wireless LAN. Can't be that hard to add that
feature since it was used in past versions of AS. Pretty sad...

Hi!
Unfortunately, the suggestion to install the latest wireless LAN card
drivers did not work (at least not for me). I also have the problem that the
WPA-secured connection between my notebook (Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG card)
running Windows XP Pro SP2 and my wireless router is killed when my windows
mobile 5 device is connected via USB. The computer has to be restarted for a
reliable reconnection (before a restart, the connection is established for
several seconds and then crashes again, reconnects, crashes etc.). It's right
that an open connection without encryption is not killed.
The latest Intel driver does not resolve the problem, nor does it the latest
ActiveSync 4.1 version. Apparently we just have to wait and hope for a bug
fix.

Hi,
Please visit Intel's website and install the latest update for the 2200 card
you have. This should resolve the problem.

I have just updated my ppc2003 O2 XDA mini to a WM5.0 O2 Atom.

My mini could sync to my wireless laptop using AS 4.1 without issue.

When I try to sync the Atom via USB it kills my 802.11g WPA connection
(Intel 2200 to Billion 7402vgo).

If I sync via Bluetooth my wireless is not killed.

If I sync via USB with WPA-PSK turned off (unencrypted link) my wireless
is not killed.

If I sync via USB with a physical ethernet connection I maintain network
connectivity.

Once my wireless is killed the laptop needs a reboot to regain stability.

My easiest solution is to sync via Bluetooth, unfortunately Microsoft
have seen fit to disable WMP10 sync via bluetooth - no music transfers,
no license updates. :(

My second easiest solution is to disable WPA-PSK and run my wireless
link unencrypted. Like yeah, I really want to do this! Also I can't do
this at work. :(

My third easiest solution is to tether my laptop to a blue wire :( This
means I can't work at my desk at work, I need to move to another desk.

Doing a google search shows this is a confirmed problem. But nowhere can
I see suggestions that MS might fix this *BUG*. The MS website also
doesn't list any support options for ActiveStink.

Does anyone have suggestions apart from these three choices, or an email
address for the Activesync developers?

Thanks

Getting a new WM5.0 device? $800
MS Removing 802.11 sync? Plain Stupid.
