Sorry these are coming in bits. I thought I would also point out the thread
called "How to set up a connection to wireless router, where Paul Tobey has
been trying to help me to get this device connecting wirelessly to my
router. Here too I am unable to achieve a connection. When I set my router
to broadcast its SSID, I can see it in my device. When I ask it too connect
is shows Connecting for a few seconds, then returns to available.

Given Paul's instructions I have clarified that I'm using Open exchange of
WEP keys, have specified Internet, and have manually entered the WEP key
onto that connection on the device. It still does not connect.

If you have an interest in joining that thread to help there, I'd very much
welcome that. I also wanted to mention it here in case this could reveal a
common problem that needs addressing.

It looks like Acre did ship with a Notebook Manager tool. So you should
check to make sure it is allowing multiple network connections.

The root cause of the spinning green icon could be:
Outgoing UDP port 5679 is blocked
Incoming TCP port 990 is blocked
Traffic on the RNDIS interface is being incorrectly routed
USB connectivity is disabled on the device

Here are some more ideas to try. I did not list these in order, but these
are the things we use to determing what is interfering with the network
traffic between the desktop and the device.

Check your firewall setting to make sure the ports listed above are
unblocked or have all 4 sync programs listed in your firewall settings.
If you are using Windows Firewall verify that "Don't allow exceptions" is
not checked.

Run the DOS command "ipconfig /all" and look for a network adaptor with
196.254.2.2 as the address. It should look something like this:

Next you can check the routing by running "route print"

If you have an extra line for 196.254.2.0, then most likely you have a VPN
client rerouting the traffic. Thie would come from a IT policy that has
been applied to your computer.

If this still does not help we cah dig even deeper.

Thanks for your reply. I've confirmed the device has the When cradled
Synchronize all PCs using this connection checked, with USB showing in
the dropdown. I assume this is the device setting you meant?

I don't think I have any software running that would be monitoring
network connections. I don't (currently though possibly soon) have VPN
software running, nor Internet monitoring sofware. I do use SpyBot
Resident, but even with that turned off I just get the endlessly spinning
green icon effect.

Any further thoughts?

You should check to see if you have an utility that is trying to manage
network connections and preventing the device from full connecting.

Plus you can check to see if somehow the "Use USB while cradled" setting
got unchecked somehow in ActiveSync in the device.

Both of these could create the symptoms you are seeing. Please let me
know if either of these fixes it or if you still need more help.

The Tablet PCs work fine with ActiveSync. I've been using my Acer C301
as my primary machine for over a year without any problems.

Also, in the readme, they are officially supported by Microsoft.

I realized I've posted about my woes that ActiveSync will not do more
than spin its nice little green icon for me when trying to connect to
my PPC6700. Another detail I forgot to mention is I have Windows XP
Tablet PC edition (I'm working with an Acer CT110) that has Service
Pack 2 installed.

I know Microsoft claims the tablet operating system is supported with
ActiveSync 4.1, but is there any known issues there I could chase?
