There have been a number of posts indicating the inability to sync ppc's with wmp...
My specific question was more: It had worked before, but why did it STOP working?
My solution is to use a card reader and sync wmp content directly to the ppc's memory card using a card reader on the pc... not only much more reliable, many times faster.
I agree that it's faster and more reliable, but, alas, that's a manual process. Having it synching automatically was a "plugin and forget" experience, i.e. new stuff (specifically: new podcasts that were downloaded by another program in the background) would automatically be synched whenever the device got cradled, without me having to do anything specific. That's why I was using that mechanism...
