Re: ActiveSync 3.7 / 3.8 unable to dial in remotely via RAS when PC networked

Sorry...some spurious info I have given previously...

It is actually XP Home SP1

It was the other XP Pro machines I upgraded to SP2 from CD.

We had so many problems with the RemoteSync a year ago (it lasted a month)
that when I carried out a virgin install for the umpteenth time and got
everything running again I was too nervous to update anything!

Microsoft have been as much use as a chocolate teapot today...

Despite my being referred by Compaq (as both the computer and the iPAQ are
Compaq) Microsoft did issue a Contact ID but they couldn't (or wouldn't) put
me through to a Tech until I was sat in front of the computer which means
they won't open a case.

Apparently I need to be in front of the computer (250 mile round trip)
before they can even put me through to a Tech...they can't (won't) even send
me any documentation pertaining to the problem.

To make matters worse my Company want me to fly to The Netherlands next week
to implement our system there including the Remote Dial-up for the iPAQ - I
really need more info in this issue before I fly.

The MS Rep told me to fly to Holland and ring when I get there...I explained
that was the same as me asking them to fly their Tech to my office :-)

Can you imagine their horror when I have to take one of their computers
(possibly their only computer as they are a small office) off the network
just so they can sync remotely via dial-up with the iPAQ?

Still I suppose a 250 mile round trip in my car is cheaper than a 1000 mile
flight to Amsterdam...<sigh>

Kind regards,
-=Glyn=-
