Re: AS 3.8 or 4.01 with XP

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Is this an HP Jornada you are attempting to connect to your PC?
Did you install ActiveSync 4.0 or ActiveSync 4.1 on your computer?

If so then unfortunately this is not a supported device.

And you will need to uninstall ActiveSync 4.x and reinstall Active 3.8

If you are not running ActiveSync 4.x then please post the contents of you wcescomm.log file located in temp directory
to get there go to Start > Run > type  %tmp% press enter
open the wcescomm.log file in notepad and copy past the contents in a post so I can take a look.

Here is the list of supported devices from the readme included in ActiveSync 4.x

SUPPORTED DEVICES

The following mobile device operating systems are supported by ActiveSync 4.1:

·      Microsoft® Windows Mobile Version 5.0

·      Microsoft® Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition

·      Microsoft® Windows Mobile 2003

·      Microsoft® Pocket PC 2002, Microsoft® Windows CE OS version 3.0

·      Microsoft® Smartphone 2002, Microsoft® Windows CE OS version 3.0
