Two clarification questions;

What OS is your ppc running? (make/model also) You specified 4.1 but didn't see any mention of WM5

Can you verify that the posts you are referring to relate to "any text" in a notes field, preferably with url's to some of these posts? This is important as we have indicated that a similar (unresolvable) problem has been known for the past five years with the field limit.
