My Active Sync has Alzheimers

All of a sudden, for no apparent reason, I get this message when I sync my
Dell Axim (Pocket PC 2003--Active Sync version 3.8) to my PC:

"The following information type on your mobile device has items that have
not been synchronized with this computer before."

I can sync it two minutes later and I get the same message. Also during
synching I get this other message "The file has been truncated to 8186
lines." Eventually the Dell syncs with the PC....but it takes forever to
check every file and it labors quite a bit to sync. Any thoughts? thanx.
