Unfortunately it does not indicate what service was not running. I thought bluetooth was supposed to simplify getting things connected (no cables, fewer headaches). My experience so far has been the exact opposite.



To set up Active Sync using Bluetooth you first have to set up an Active Sync connection using USB. Then disconnect the USB and try to set up Bluetooth. Have you done that? The port-changing information in the quoted article is very important: Active Sync will not recognise port numbers above 9. (Each time you try to start again, Bluetooth will go for a fresh port, which will rapidly increment up to 11 or 12, which is no good - follow the article to the letter, which is what I did successfully).
