Jornada 540 and USB connection

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Think it is time I gave up trying to get my 540 to connect to Windows XP
Home.
I have tried every piece of advice, prowled the net and done everything I
can think of but there is just no way it wants to talk to my PC.
Geez, this is sooooooooooooooo frustrating.......
Anybody got any ideas how to fix this one?
