WCESCOMM.EXE Error

Our CFO is getting the following message when starting MS Activesync:
WCESCOMM.EXE - Error in application
The application couldn't be initialized correctly (0xc0000142)

The fix is to alter 2 registry keys, however, unfortunately, I do not know
which 2. Elron software used to have them, however, the site is now
redirected to Zixcorp.com, and I can find no mention of this error.

The problem is related to Symantec AV 8.0.

Any help is appreciated.
