I have not been able to get the ActiveSync which came
with my new HP iPAQ 4155 to synchronize with my desktop
PC which is running WIN XP Prof. The first error message
that comes up says I don't have Outlook installed which
is not true I have Outlook 2003 installed. The second
error message basically says that I am not connected to
the internet which is also not true. HP gave me several
steps to go through, like soft and hard resets on the
iPAQ, installing the latest version of ActiveSync (3.7.1)
which I did and none of these worked. Their last
recommendation was to "disable the Internet Firewall
Feature" of Win XP Prof. I don't like that idea because
that's why I have Win XP Prof and not the Home edition.
It appears I cannot get help from Microsoft without
paying for it because they don't have an option to select
on their web site for this kind of situtation. Anyone
have any ideas about how to resolve this problem or
whether or not it is even resolvable?
