As others have explained this is the way it's supposed to work. However
there's a weird cheat exploiting a bug which might get you closer to what
you want if you are prepared to experiment and take a bit of a risk.
Make an ActiveSync backup of your PPC, do a hard reset and then restore the
backup. You will find that after the restore, because of an Active Sync
bug, if you collect POP3 mail it will go into the Active Sync inbox, not the
POP3 one. Mail can be sent over POP3 with this configuration. I used my
PPC like this for a while, but I wasn't syncing email with my PC, so I have
no idea what will happen if you do this and then sync. So take a backup of
your Outlook pst file so that you can restore Outlook if it all goes
horribly wrong.
