It seems as though one of the most reliable ways of
synchronizing remotely would be to use the serial port
mapping feature of Remote Desktop. That way,
partnerships could be established and all messages
necessary for resolution could be responded to. Of
course, this wouldn't work for newer USB-only CE devices.
However, I have not been able to get it to work. I can
get ActiveSync on the remote computer to recognize the
local client serial port, and even have gotten the
Windows CE device to respond to the polling from "Get
Connected.". However, it just keeps trying to establish
a connection. I have turned the baud rate all the way
down, and still nothing. I have even tried several
different CE 3.0 mobile devices, and both computers will
synchronize with a mobile device over their local serial
ports.
My question is, has anyone been able to get this idea to
work, and how?
