Active Synch and Microsoft Office XP Professional

I attempted to install active synch on my new computer
which is running Office XP Professional and the message
was that they are not compatable and damage might result
to XP if I continued. Aren't both of these software
written by Microsoft? What do I need to do to create a
partnership between my Compaq IPAC 3850 and my new
computer?
