Pat and Diane-
This problem has been reported many times in
microsoft.public.outlook.general
since Outlook 2007 was first released in '07.
I compiled a list of 25 users who reported this (see my post last week
in
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.outlook.general/browse_thread/thread/e5b78c8b02ff412b?hl=en
..
I just found two more:
(26) Mr e: And me! It's enormously annoying, and I can't figure it
out. It seems to
occur when the characters in a line length are longer than a previous
one,
but this doesn't seem to happen when the message is still all visible
and the
scoll button is at the at the top, only if the scroll button has
moved, at
which point it'll jump back to the top. I'm even condsidering writing
emails
in haiku until a resolution is found.
(27) jingso: Same glitch here and it's driving me insane. I don't
know where else to look
for answers. I've tried everything I can think of.
--As I indicated in my previous post, the problem occurs in Safe Mode
as well.
--No open microphones are involved in our case.
--This is not a case of a randomly jumping cursor; the cursor DOES NOT
MOVE! The view pane scrolls down
a large distance ONLY in response to a carriage return (an Enter key
or the end of a line) instead of
scrolling up a small distance. This "smells" more like a bug to me
than some malfunctioning hardware
sending out random signals.
I too have tried everything I could think of, including the Smart
Cursoring switch you mentioned.
But I have not yet seen any fixes that work.
===> As to the cause, do you use larger than normal fonts, or do you
have "zoom" enabled?
I ask this because one possible common thread I have seen in a few of
these
messages is the use of large(r) fonts:
1) Marsha: "The only thing I can think of that might be different in
my setup from
others is that I use a larger font for messages, since my screen
resolution
is set high. "
2) Rick at GLAC: "the person using this system likes to use large
fonts as it is
easier for him to see what he is typing."
3) The unfortunate person in our office stuck with this jumping scroll
has bad eyesight, and has zooming enabled.

On a couple of our desktop computers running Office 2007 on Windows XP with
HTML as the Outlook email format, the cursorjumpsto the top of the window
rather than scroll down as the user is typing a message that exceeds the
size of the message window. It happens only from time to time, but the same
two people are the only ones having the problem.
Any ideas as to the cause or a possible fix?
Thanks in advance,
