the folders are not mismatched - they will be created as needed.

Thanks Diane,

Is anything getting removed from the pst?

I don't know. I haven't manually deleted anything and, as it
previously stated, the archived folders are set to NOT delete. This
is a home system with a handful of daily emails and most of my spam is
prefiltered and deleted by Cloudmark. I'm only concerned with the
ones that hang in my personal folders for 3 months and then disappear.
Autoarchiving uses the modified
date, not received date.

How big is the Archive pst?

It shows 879 mb when highlighted which would be about what I'd
expect, but I haven't found any way to open and display it.

I've read a number of histories posted on this subject, but I'm still
unclear as to why my archived emails disappear. I have AutoArchiving
set to Run AutoArchive every day, Archive or delete old items, Show
archive folder list, clean out items older than 3 months, and to Move
old items to: c:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings
\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst. The Show Hidden
Files option is checked in Windows Explorer Folder options.

The AutoArchive process performs as scheduled, but when I go to my
archived folders they are empty. I've opened archive.pst from the
File menu and it is empty. I have 18 sub-folders under my Personal
Folders, however I noticed only 16 of those are listed under Archived
Folders. Could this mismatch confuse the archiving process? Each of
my Archived Folders is set to Do not archive this folder.

What I want to do is clear out my primary folders on a routine
schedule such as the 3 month setting I'm now using, but then have them
archived permanently in the folders listed under Archived Folders
