Although I cannot help I thought you should know that I too have the same problem wit Outlook 2007. My "problem reports and solutions" folder has many instances of Outlook crashing/freezing and I am yet to discover why. Here is the latest report automatically sent to Microsoft:-

Outlook seems to freeze when it is in the process of downloading new email.
It also seems to freeze for other unknown reasons. Sometime it rees up after
a few minutes, and other times I have to try and close it, get the message
saying that Outlook is not responding and gives me the option to restart..
this is very anoying.
