Yes, that is the path. When I got into that folder, I saw the two previous
"re-names" of extend.dat which were "extendold.dat" and "extendold2.dat". I
created "extendold3.dat" and upon the first try to reply to an email there
was no error. After a reboot, when I tried to reply to an email, the same
error recurred.

Viewing hidden files is enabled. Searching finds no match for
"extend.dat"
or for "Extend.dat".
