You should never manipulate your contacts using the Address Book, since it contains no data and is simply a view of your Contacts folders that have been enabled as address books. Unwanted side effects can occur if you do. For example, if you delete an entry from the address book interface, the contact associated with that entry is NOT deleted from the Contacts folder containing it. Instead, the electronic address for that contact is removed from the contact record.
