So, bottom line, do you or do you not see a Contacts folder in the old
.pst
that you opened like William told you?

After furious head scratching, learning asked:
| OK, I guess we were on two different playing fields. As i said
| earlier I do need to get a book and possible i do not not understand
| all i need to know. If everyone knew all about it, i guess we wouldnt
| come here. Thanks

|| OK. One more time.
|| Outlook has no address book. All the Contact data is in your Contacts
|| Folder.
|| If you copied and opened the correct Outlook data file all your data
|| is still where it always was: in your Contacts Folder. Is it?
|| If you want that information also to appear in the address book
|| view, just configure the Outlook Address Book in your new profile:

||| I know you guys arent confused, thats why i came here to ask my
||| questions. I thought everythging was in the pst file, but someone
||| told me about a pab file.
||| I was hoping i could import my address book into my new profile
||| without importing all the emails and folders.
||| I opened the pst in outlook and didnt see the address book. I do
||| need to get the book, or maybe just switch email programs. I like
||| the funcionality of Outlook, i just can't figure it all out. A
||| learning process,,,thanks again for the help.

|||| We're not confused, but you are.
|||| There is no separate address book in Outlook. All Contact data
|||| resides in Contact Folders in the PST file.
|||| If yours are not, it is most likely because you migrated data
|||| incorrectly. Never, ever overwrite a PST file. Just open it, like
|||| William told you.

||||| That seemed to open all the "tasks" i am using, but I didnt see
||||| where it opened the Address book.
||||| I have, in the past had to format my hard drive. I would back up
||||| the pst file onto a cd. My pst file is huge. After formatting and
||||| reinstalling Outlook, I would over write the newly created pst
||||| file with my file and i would have all my folders, tasks, and
||||| addresses.
||||| I thought the addresses were in the pst file along with the inbox
||||| and folders.
||||| However someone told me about a pab file, which is the personal
||||| address book? Is that what i need to import in to my new profile?
||||| Also after creating a new profile i had to create a new account
||||| from the tools/email accounts.
||||| Does Ken Slovak's book Absolute Beginner's Guide to Microsoft
||||| Office Outlook 2003 go into detail about pst files, profiles and
||||| address books? I hope he has a book on Outllok 2002.
||||| I appreciate your help and I hope I havnt confused you.

|||||| There are many Outlook books that would cover this. Outlook
|||||| 200_? I would certainly recommend Ken Slovak's book Absolute

||||||
|||||| If your contacts are in another .pst file, then you can use
|||||| Outlook to open the old .pst file as well (File-->Open-->Outlook
|||||| Data File (I think this reads: Personal Folder File in versions
|||||| prior to Outlook 2003))
|||||| Then you can expand the old .pst and drag and drop the contacts
|||||| you want in the new .pst.
||||||
|||||| Will that do it?

||||||| I created another profile, and it is using an entirely

||||||| I have attempted this a few times and have had to go to my
