Do you have an Internet Firewall enabled to scan traffic? I am wondering if
the McAfee Firewall plays into this configuration?

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Stan asked:

| I authenticate both outgoing and incoming mail servers.
|
| Incoming seems to be working, but outgoing is failing
| on "larger" emails. My tests have been very crude, but
| emails less tha 5k are going through fine, where emails
| greater than 800k (an attachment) get the send error.
|
| Very puzzling. Don't understand what has changed.

||
||| I'm repeatedly getting an Sending & Receiving reported
||| error 0x8004210b - timed out while waiting for response
||| from SMTP server". I'm using Outlook 2002 with XP
||| professional.
|||
||| I checked the help archives, and there seems to be a
||| known issue with linksys routers that cause this error,
||| but (to my knowledge) I am not using a linksys router, I
||| only have an efficient networks speedstream 5100 DSL
||| modem.
|||
||| I contacted my ISP who informs me that there is no
||| network issues, and I disabled my firewall and still
||| received the same sending error. A reboot did not correct
||| the issue.
|||
||| The only thing that I can think of that is different from
||| when my email was working and now (with the error) are
||| some XP security patches that I downloaded and installed
||| (I should have noted what I installed, but I didn't - my
||| mistake). Is this a known problem with a fix?
|||
||| Thanks.
