Selecting Prompt For Profile and password are two seperate things.
You password protect a data file, if you have selected that option.
If you actualy set up seperate windows users then outlook data would be
completely seperate for each windows user, and no Prompt for Profile option
would be required, you could also password protect each windows users
account therefore it would not be neccessary to password protect the outlook
data file
But then you go on to say " I'm not setting up a user account for each of
us" so your post and what you have actually done in configuring this PC is
confusing to say the least, which may be because you are more used to a mac

OK, this issue makes little sense to me. But I set up two email profiles,
selected to be prompted to select one when opening outlook, but when you
do,
it shows you entire inbox BEFORE asking for a password. So basically, I
use
the admin for my wife and I out of simplicity but we both agree that
having
access to the inboix of each others email is not a good idea. It doens't
show
new mail, but does show all previous emails.
Seems to be the anti-thesis of privacy.
And no, I'm not setting up a user account for each of us. That's a major
fiasco I already tried. Half the programs I installed on the admin account
do
not work in the user accounts. After installing the programs, you go to a
standrda user account and open, say itunes, and it wants to reconfigure it
again and start a new installation. Stupid. I'll say this, Windows is such
a
cumbersome program, it's no wonder they continue to lose market share to
Apple (which I use for a lapotop and prefer, unfortunatety, my wife wanted
a
PC).
