Re: Outlook 2007 data files, archives, folders cluster

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Thank You. That worked and my performance is much improved. I do have a few
other issues as follows:
1)I am synching with a T-Mobile Dash phone with windows mobile 6.0. It now
gives me this error code "Cannot synchronize with the Outlook profile you are
using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is
password-protected.
Please open Outlook using the appropriate profile." Any ideas?
2)I have a quite a few duplicate e-mails. Is there some kind of scan tool to
eliminate those duplicates?
3)It seems like my signatures and autotyped e-mail addresses in the "to" box
are not coming up.

Thanks again for all the help! John H.

First you need to work out what is the name & path of your current default
data file.
Using the Mail applet in the control panel, create a new Profile, add the
above data file, configure & test the accounts.

To consolidate the archives, first check their format, ie were they created
in a version of outlook prior to 2003, if so there may be a size issue.
Assuming they were all created in the OL2003 or later format, simply pick
the one to keep and copy data from the others to this.

My Outlook 2007 (Vista Ultimate) is configured for one POP e-mail account
but
I've completely hosed it up with 14 data files configured, some of which
are
partial duplicates.

I am also showing 14 folders open in the mail folders box. Three of these
are "Archive Folder" but the other 11 have names that look a like the file
names I've assigned over the years. Needless to say, I'm having a lot of
"Outlook 2007 is not responding" situations and many times, outlook starts
with the message that a data file or archive was "not closed properly"
last
time it was shut down.

Under Calendar items, I have 9 items under "My Calendars". These all have
unique names and only one is checked and it has the title of "Calendar".
When calendar reminders come up, they appear three times identical. When I
dismiss one, all three disappear.

Under Contacts, I have 5 items under My Contacts all with unique titles.

For e-mail, contacts, and calendars, I would like to consolidate with one
active file and another much larger file for archives I could search on
for
future reference. Getting there without losing any information is where I
need help. Can you tell me how to:
1)Consolidate into one active and one archive file?
2)Eliminate duplicate e-mail, calendar items and contacts?
3)Configure Outlook 2007 so performance and reliability are improved?

BTW, I have backed up all the files and also have several older backups on
different hard drives that would ideally be consolidated as well.

What is this "mail applet" I'm reading about in some of the other posts?
Would I need to use it for my situation?

Thanks for helping this dummy.
