How do you tell Outlook what and when to download items into the Inbox
folder? In reading about the generic IMAP protocol, it said that you should
be able to choose headers only, or headers plus the body and select which
attachments. Of course, it said that depends on the client. Since Outlook
tends to be full featured client, I hoped it have those features. The Outlook
help is not very clear about what is and is not supported in the IMAP
protocol.
Thanks, Don Williams

When my Gmail account receives email, the new email is downloaded to
the Inbox folder, but it is also in the All Mail subfolder. If I
happen to click the item in the All mail subfolder, it download loads
the item again and while that download is occuring my Outlook session
is hung. With IMAP I thought one was suppose to be able to download
headers only and choose what part of a email to download (like
download the body, but not the attachments, etc.)
gmail adds its own kinks. Most IMAP servers don't have an "All Mail"
folder. It's something you'll need to live with, as far as I can tell.
