Vince, it worked! Copying the file across the network to my local computer
enabled me to Import the file (as Microsoft wrote in my previously mentioned
article.) I just don't know why "Import" does not work across the network
the same way that file transfers do when dragging and dropping(??).

It was one of those nights when I was exhausted and couldn't try one more
thing. Very rewarding feeling!

Thanks for your help!!!

Can you copy the PST file to your local machine and then re-try the import?

I've read all the posts about CD .pst files causing error = "File access
is
denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file."

My problem is not caused by the import source file being on a CD nor by a
"read attribute". I am on a local home network and the import file is one
of
my .pst files on another computer with Outlook is "closed". I tried
copying
the file to another location, but with the same error.

I think so many people are using the "import export wizard" because
Microsoft told them to do it that way in the artice at
URL = http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HP0103835110033.aspx

This MS Assistance is titled "Convert a non-Unicode data file (.pst) to a
Unicode data file (.pst)

I have tried File/Open/Outlook Data File and get the same error message.

Everything I find about giving permissions relates to Exchange servers. I
do not know how or where to give read / write permission to a file.

Any ideas?
