RE: cannot access/delete redundant ARCHIVE folders in Outlook 2003

Hi,
The error you receive in Outlook is caused due to corruption with Outlook
profile rather than the pst files. So running scanpst would not repair the
damaged profile.
Refer the following link for additional info-

I thought scanost.exe and scanpst.exe were suppose to fix it..

Hi Doug,
Looks like the Outlook profile is corrupted. Rather working in the current
settings, its better we create a new profile in Outlook and open the
necessary pst files.

I renamed the old archive pst file and now I can open both of the Archive
folders. When I right select on the folder and select properties, both
appear OK. However, if I select the Advanced button, an error window opens
saying
"The operation failed. An object could not be found." I don't understand
why Microsoft's application does not tell us which object could not be found.
Do they think we just enjoy guessing? Oh wll, I am still stuck with two
Archive folders with exactly the same information in both. When I move
something from one Archive folder, the item is moved from both so it appears
that there is only one Archive folder but it is listed twice.
Should I just put up with it?

Hi,
What happens when you right click on the second archive folder and choose
'Close Archive folder'? Does it allow you to close it?
If not the profile in Outlook might have been corrupted if the pst files
have been moved around.
Try creating a new profile and access/open the necessary pst files from the
new profile.

After upgrading to Outlook 2003, I now have two Archive folders listed which
I cannot access so I cannot even see the properties of these folders. The
folders do not show up in Data File Management so I don't know why they
appear in the folder list in Outlook. I want to delete them and create a new
Archive folder that really works like it is suppose to. I still have the
archive pst file so I assume the data is still good. The SCANPST and SCANOST
tools say that all is fine.
