Hi Jim,
As you see, I also suspect this is an Outlook problem in nature, but we still have
something else to check:
1. Did you archive the same folder? For example, the data in Contact folder can
be only copied but not moved.
2. Did you use "Cached Exchange mode" in both Outlook or not?
3. Have you tried to create a new Outlook profile in the problematic Outlook?
This problem may be caused by corrupted settings in Outlook profile.

If the problem still persists, here are some troubleshooting steps for Outlook.
Step 1: Start Outlook in Safe Mode

Run "Outlook.exe /Safe" to start Outlook in safe mode.
If in Outlook Safe Mode, the problem doesn't occur again. Please restart Outlook
to normal mode and then disable all add-ins.
-- Start up Outlook in normal mode
-- Click Tools, then Options
-- In the Other Tab, click Advanced Options
-- Click Add-in Manager, CLEAR all the check boxes in Add-in Manager
-- Click COM-addin, CLEAR all check boxes
-- Restart Outlook
If this problem persists, please go to next step.
Step 2: Locate and rename the Outlook cache files

1) Perform a search on the computer to find the following files: extend.dat,
outcmd.dat, frmcache.dat, views.dat
Some of them may not exist, but it should not matter. We may also need to
show the extension of the file and enable the "show hidden files" option in "Folder
Options".
2) Delete or rename the files
3) Detect and repair office.
-- Open one of the Office programs, and select "Detect and Repair" on the Help
menu;
-- In the "Detect and Repair" dialog box, click Start;
-- Insert the Office installation CD if prompted. Restart your computer after the
repair process is complete.
If this problem persists, please go to next step.
Step 3: Reinstall Outlook

Start from Office installation CD, and then select Maintenance/Reinstall
