If the PST is beyond repair then it will not operate at all.
to get to your problem ....
Try running Outlook with the cleanreminders switch as shown here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;197180&Product=out2K
Then run scanpst.exe on your PST as mentioned here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;272227&Product=out2K
