Re: Outlook 2002 not sending MSN emails

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Peter,

I tried following the steps laid out in the link you posted, but I still
cannot get Outlook 2002 to interface with my MSN email account. It used to;
but not anymore. Can't send or receive. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Jim

I am glad you got it working. As far as ( In Tools / Email Accounts, is it OK to
delete the old MSN HTTP email
account?)

Yes you can

Thanks, both sending and receiving are working fine now. The key was
changing the "Default" setting from the old MSN HTTP account to the new
pop3.live.com account (I guess the process of creating the new pop3 doesn't
automatically assign it as the default; that needs to be done separately???).

In Tools / Email Accounts, is it OK to delete the old MSN HTTP email account?

Hi ya-

I get my MSN email via Outlook 2002 SP3. Starting a couple of weeks ago
Outlook has been unable to retrieve my xxxxx@xxxxxxx email (message = "Access
to account was denied...").

I followed the instructions at this link to try to correct the problem
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287604), and was then able to receive email,
but in trying send email the messages stay in the Outbox and I get this
error: "MSN - Sending reported error ... Access to the account was denied
...".

In addition I have a Charter email account (xxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxx) that also
downloads to Outlook; I don't know if the Charter and MSN emails are
connected somehow or not. And I don't know if the MSN email is set up as
POP3 or MSN web-based or HTTP or whatever (how can I tell?).

Here's how the Outlook folder structure looks:
- MSN
Inbox
Junk E-mail
etc.
- Outlook Today - [Personal Folders]
Calendar
Drafts
Inbox
etc.

My MSN email downloads to the Inbox in the MSN section, and my Charter email
downloads to the Outlook Today Inbox.

I've looked at the main microsoft websites (http://office.microsoft.com and
http://support.microsoft.com) to try to find a solution but no luck.

Do you have a suggestion for the specific steps/settings to get the send and
receive working again?

Thanks-

Joel
