Re: Email with Challenge Response System

Yes, I guess I missed your point. I really don't understand the issue. I do
not like getting all the annoying emails marketing products etc that I have
no interest in buying. Therefore I am trying to eliminate them. So if if
could give me another explanation of why I don't want the challenge response
system I would consider it.

Also, I have come accross a different kind of system (2 programs are Super
Email Harvester & Super Email Verifier) which apparently go out to the
senders ISP and verify the sender. I have no idea if this is a good system
and would like your ideas on it.

Lastly if you have another solution I would be happy to hear about it.

Thanks for your time

I use Outlook 2007 (with Vista 64) for my email and my current email supplier
(Earthlink but with my own domain) has a feature that only allows email from
a safelist to be passed through to Outlook and all other email is put in a
suspect email folder on the web and the sender gets a message that says they
need to fill out a form to get put on my safelist. I like this system but I
am having problems with Earthlink.

Does anyone out there have a email supplier that has a similar system or if
not is there thrid party sofware that I can add to Outlook that would
accomplish something similar (would prefer the email service solution to the
third party solution).
I despise "Challenge Response". The only challenges I have ever received
were from obnoxious users of the system, "challenging" email I never sent
them in the first place (I've had one Yahoo! account email address forged as
"sender"; and my own domain, as well). I report all challenges as spam, via
the SpamCop.net service.

Different strokes for different people. While the C/R system may not be
great it is the best way I can see to control spam. If you don't won't a C/R
system don't install one.

You completely missed my point. Use one, if you think you must; but be
prepared to have to defend your use of it with your provider, as his servers
will be threatened with DNSB Listing for abuse. Even if SpamCop.net won't
block his servers, I definitely will.

You speak as an end user, sending email through your provider's servers. I
speak as a server operator, trying to defend my server against such abuse as
caused by C/R systems.
