Re: Outlook Rules don't send specified template

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Tried moving the template to My Docs, found it and launched the rule. Error
message came "Rules in Error--cannot send reply."

"Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote:

when its in my docs you need to browse for it when select the template to
use. (I always put them in my docs so I can back them up easier.)

choose User templates in file system, Browse, locate the folder and click
ok. if you picked the correct folder where you placed it, it will be listed.

From field was empty; Diagnostics revealed no issue; tried to move
template
to my Docs, but it was invisible in drop down menu. Got the "Rules in
Error--cannot send reply" message again. All other outgoing e-mails have
no
problems. rebooting has no effect.

From field should be empty too (I have mine 'turned on' all the time -
its
on the options tab.)

Have you tried office diagnostics?
Did you move the template to a new location after creating the rule?
Have you rebooted between the time the error began and the last try? (It
shouldn't make a difference and doesn't here - but my auto reply rule
works.)

Wait. You said the "from" field? There is no "from" field in the
template
I
created. Just a To: field, a CC: field, and a BCC: Field.

I have tried it with a few new templates. No go.

so it loads the template but doesn't address it (or something) yet
saves
it
to the outbox? The only condition right now is send the template,
right?
Try it with a new template.

When you say "disable the move command" do you also mean that I
shouldn't
delete it in the rule?

Disable the move command (or make a rule that just uses the
template) -
does
the reply error? Are you using different addresses each time -
autoreplies
are 1 per address for session so you either need to restart
outlook
or
test
with several addresses.

Sorry to bring this up again in a different thread, but this
is
becoming
most
frustrating. I use Outlook 2007; I am the admin, no exchange
server.
I create a rule from scratch. I set the conditions to mail a
specific
template to a selected person on my email list, and I set a
condition
to
send
their original email to be sent to a spcified folder I made.

I created the template from an Outlook mail message and saved
it
as
an
.oft
file. While creating the rule, I selected that template as the
one
to
use
in
my reply.

After repeated tests from my contact, his incoming mail is
sent
to
the
folder I chose, but the specified template does not get sent
back
to
him.
I
have received a message that says "Rules in error--reply
cannot
be
sent."

Why can't it be sent? Obviously, I'm screwing up somewhere,
but I
can't
figure out where. Any help from any MVP would be appreciated.
I
do
not
want
to use a third-party solution, as I feel this is something
Outlook
should
be
able to do pretty easily.

Why won't my specified template get sent?
